Urban Renovation

Discover the transformation of an office building originally built in 1984 to an urban oasis where architecture, design, and sustainable construction meet to host you. We preserved 90% of the original building structure and opened the recycled building to movement, transversality, and fluidity.

Natural Light & Artisanal Design

79bogotá draws on a permanent natural light source — the garden patio — and enjoys privileged urban settings: the Bogotá sunset in the western side of the building and the morning sun in the eastern side. This natural light complements every detail, from the lamps woven from iraca palm, to the carpets woven from fique palm, and the art made from indigo.

Vegetation

Rejoice at the sight of more than 50 different species of plants that welcome you at the front entrance, in every apartment balcony, and at the garden patio — including the native caucho sabanero (ficus soatensis) and caballero de la noche (cestrum nocturnum) that stem from the heart of the garden.

Immerse in the details

Índigo: Ángela Jiménez Pérez

We celebrate the art of Ángela Jiménez Pérez (Bogotá, 1960), whose works — featuring organic strokes in hues unique to blue and indigo — narrate a graphic poem that flows through 79bogotá. Using canes, wooden beams, stone, and soil for rammed earth construction — tapia pisada — in Barichara (Santander), Ángela revives the artisanal production of añil in this region, a natural pigment whose production declined and nearly disappeared with the rise of synthetic dyes. Her work converses with every corner of 79bogotá.

Hand-crafted Crystal

79bogotá collaborates with an artisanal glass workshop in Bogotá that produces all its glassware from 100% recycled materials. The workshop’s artisans operate on a small scale, from collecting or receiving glass — often sourced from people experiencing homelessness who depend on informal recycling as work — to breaking down the material and melting it to create new glass. The final products — glasses, cups, vases, and other glassware — are the very pieces you use at 79bogotá.

Traditionally-Woven Carpets in Fique Palm

With hand-embroidered copper accents, each rug is woven from fique palm fibers and requires between 1000 and 1500 threads. Both their design and vertical loom weaving embody a craft tradition upheld by a family from the town of Pesca (department of Boyacá), who have worked with the fique palm for over 30 years. Today, they continue this practice in a small family workshop in Bogotá.

Traditionally-Woven Lamps in Iraca Palm

The lamps are woven in iraca palm by artisans in the south of the Nariño department, near the border with Ecuador. This palm thrives in Colombia's Pacific region and requires a delicate, entirely manual fiber extraction process. Like the work with the fique palm, this process sustains a traditional craft in deep conversation with the land.

Desk Pads in Hand-Crafted Leather

The leather desk pads are the product of a family-run workshop that began in Colombia’s rural regions, first in the department of Arauca and later in Yopal, and established with approximately five artisans in Bogotá. The workshop has been operating for 25 years in Bogotá and holds the PaisSana certification, awarded to initiatives that highlight rural trades impacted by Colombia’s armed conflict.

This artisanal leather craft seeks to grow as a circular economy: the leather is sustainably and organically tanned, minimizing pollution of water sources. The production process is manual, with machine-sewn finishes and the final detail of the 79 stamp.
